What is a Dry Hydrant?

A dry hydrant is a special hydrant setup in rural areas that allows the fire departments to fill tankers to minimize the time required to get water to the scene. They can often be found in streams or ponds and are designed not to freeze in cold weather.

Dry Hyrdants in the Cazenovia Fire District are;


Ballina Road: ¼ mile East of Rt13 at the bridge, North side of road in front of Gary Stowell residence

Temperance Hill Road: Dennis Hill farm pond, ½ mile North of Rt 92, West side of road

Wyss Road: Richards farm pond, 1/8 mile West of South Road, South side of the road

East Lake Road: Windsong Farm pond, ¾ mile North of Peth Road, East side of road

Moseley Road: Jane Lafever residence pond, ¾ mile South or Rt 20 East, East side of road

North Lake Road: Cazenovia Lake, ¼ mile West of East Lake Road at “s” curves on the bridge, lake side of road

Constine Bridge Road: 1/8 mile North of Hardscrabble Road at the bridge, West side of road (NWFD district)

Nelson Road: ¼ mile South of Putnam Road at the bridge, East side of the road in front of the Benedict residence

Erieville Road: 1/8 mile South of Rt 20 East, across from Brookside Greenhouse, West side of road

Nelson Road: ¼ mile South of Larkin Road at the bridge, just North of the Wilkinson farm, West side of road

Woodfield Road: dry hydrant at the horse barn

Route 20 East:  Located on Route 20 East past Welsh Church Road.  Large Pond on Right
